Kevin Ervin was my first placement when I joined Edgility Consulting in Fall of 2018. We were first introduced in the summer of 2018 as fellow NYU alumni. He was seeking career advice, and we had a very good conversation. When Kevin applied for the Change for Kids Executive Director role, I knew that based on our previous conversation and his resume that I wanted to interview him.
As he got further and further in the process, he emerged as the strongest candidate. He told me during the process that he had applied to the same role 18 months before and hadn’t gotten a phone interview. However, with our support, he was able to move to the semi-finalist and finalist stages and was ultimately hired for the position.
Kevin and I reflected on his candidate experience through the Edgility process and how he has navigated growth at Change for Kids as a leader of color. As a result of his leadership, Change for Kids pivoted their programming in a digital platform called Change for Kids Digital.
We hope this interview inspires other aspiring leaders of color to become the next Executive Director.
