Chief External Relations Officer, EdVoice

Felix Flores joins EdVoice as the Chief External Relations Officer. In this role, he will be leading EdVoice’s partnership efforts, overseeing planning and implementation of a long-range fundraising plan. Additionally, he will be ensuring the quality, relevance, and consistency of EdVoice’s branding and messaging to a variety of stakeholder audiences.

Flores has over 20 years of leadership experience in educational and non-profit organizations. His experience ranges from creating scholarship programs for STEM students of color, organizing volunteers nationwide, and building three educational organizations from the ground up. His passion to positively impact disadvantaged communities of color through resource building and community empowerment derives from his upbringing. He was raised in a low-income family, and was the first in his family to graduate from college.

Bill Lucia, EdVoice’s CEO said upon this appointment:

“We knew it was a tall order to find the right person with the exceptional abilities to be a successful Chief External Relations Officer at EdVoice. The Board and I are enthusiastic to welcome Felix to the team. He is a perfect fit to help lead the fight for equity of opportunity for all students. His life experience proves poverty doesn’t have to be destiny for any child and great schools can change the trajectory of a child’s life. Understanding the significance of the EdVoice mission and the importance of this role, Edgility worked closely with EdVoice leadership to narrow dozens of inquiries and find the best match to work at a high level with partner organizations and allies interested in investing in the success of all students.”

Flores himself had the following to say about his new role

“I am thrilled to join EdVoice and support its mission to positively impact the students of California, especially those from under-resourced communities. Our families and communities deserve the best education our nation can offer – a zip code should not dictate your future. I appreciate the opportunity EdVoice is giving me to share my passion for impacting the youth of our great state. I’d also like to thank Edgility for the superb efforts in connecting passionate leaders to change-focused organizations. This opportunity could not have taken place without the tireless work of their staff. You are appreciated.”

Prior to joining EdVoice, Flores served at iMentor Bay Area as their Executive Director, as the National Director for #YesWeCode, and as Program Director for Genesys Works. He holds a BA in Sociology from UCLA.
