Portal Schools is an emerging network of micro-schools where students simultaneously attain a high school and college degree. They serve an intentionally diverse student population through a model that is student-centered, competency-based and career focused.

Grace has spent the last 23 years as a teacher, school leader, school designer, and trusted advisor for numerous innovative independent and public schools in the U.S. and internationally. In addition to her work as an instructional leader, her commitment over time to the work of diversity, equity, and social justice has been a constant throughout her career and Portal Schools’ board and senior leadership believe that she will bring this lens to the creation of Portal campuses and in working with every student in the Portal Schools community as the network grows.

Grace’s career centers on academic excellence, innovation, and fostering a love of learning by doing. She has worked as an Education Specialist at the Center for Powerful Public Schools. She provided LAUSD teachers and principals with support and professional development on instruction around interdisciplinary PBLs and curriculum design through the Linked Learning framework. Grace also co-founded the PRIME Charter School concept which focused on a personalized and equitable approach to learning in partnership with community-based organizations.

In her most recent work prior to Portal, Grace served as an innovation design consultant to schools, designing curriculum and providing faculty support. She serves as an Advisor to Public Matters, a creative social enterprise group located in Los Angeles, and is a member of the Transcend Design Community with Transcend Education. She also serves as a board member of CHAMPS High School.

Grace graduated from NYU with a BA and MA in History and Education and received her certification in School Leadership and Administration with a focus on Informational Technology from Johns Hopkins University.
