Edgility Consulting is excited to announce the placement of Loretta Goodwin as the Chief Operating Officer at Aurora Institute.
Chief Operating Officer, Aurora Institute
The Aurora Institute is a 501c3 nonprofit with the mission to drive the transformation of education systems and accelerate the advancement of breakthrough policies and practices to ensure high-quality learning for all. Aurora is shaping the future of teaching and learning for more than 14 million students through its work in policy advocacy, research, and field-building/convening.
Loretta Goodwin joins the Aurora Institute as Chief Operating Officer. In this role she will be leading the Aurora Institute staff, own talent management and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), align the work on the ground with the organization’s mission, vision, values and goals, and support the CEO and Board of Directors in crafting a new, long-range strategic plan.
Most recently, she was the Deputy Director at the American Youth Policy Forum, focused on promoting equitable education for all young people by providing professional learning opportunities to policymakers. She oversaw AYPF’s DEI efforts as well as instituting innovative staff professional development. An educator at heart, she has worked consistently in the fields of education reform from her teaching days in her native South Africa to dissertation research for her doctorate on Soviet education reform. She currently also serves as adjunct faculty at the George Washington University’s School of Business, teaching a class on Career Management Strategy.
“I have long admired the work at Aurora and am excited and eager to contribute to the organization’s transformative vision for the equitable education of young people,” Goodwin said. “My own educational journey has witnessed multiple moments of transformation. I remain devoted to providing each and every student with high-quality, innovative learning environments by working collaboratively with the Aurora Institute’s staff, the CEO, and the Board of Directors. I also want to thank Edgility for the opportunity to work with them, and for their commitment to connecting leaders like me to change-focused organizations. It’s been a real pleasure working with the Edgility team!”
Dr. Goodwin holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Cape Town, a Higher Diploma of Education from the University of Cape Town, master’s degrees from Wesleyan University and the University of Washington, in History and Political Science, and a Ph.D. in History from Princeton University.
