Hope Evans
Managing Director of Schools, Breakthrough Schools
July 2020

Breakthrough Schools is a nationally recognized network that was rated the best CMO network in Ohio by the 2017 CREDO study at Stanford University. Breakthrough Schools originated as a commitment to increase educational options for Cleveland families. In 2009, three of Cleveland’s top stand-alone public charter schools discovered the challenges of operating individually and decided that sharing administrative functions would help them operate more efficiently and serve more students.

Hope Evans is the Managing Director of Schools at Breakthrough Public Schools where she develops and manages principals serving students in grades K-8 in the city of Cleveland.

Prior to coming to Breakthrough, she served as Chief Academic Officer at Alpha Public Schools in the Bay Area. At Alpha, she managed the academic program across grades K-12, and worked to build key instructional systems and routines for a rapidly expanding academic program. Prior to serving in that role, she was the founding principal of the middle school campus and the Director of Instruction and Leadership Development, where she developed the coaching and development capacity of leaders across the Alpha network.

Hope began her career in education as a middle school humanities teacher on the South Side of Chicago as a Teach for America corps member. She holds a B.S. in Journalism from Northwestern University, a M.A.T in Teaching from Dominican University, and a M.Ed. in Education Policy and Management from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education.
